Just barely here and now
My mind is out of bounds
The lights are on but no one’s
Home to take your mundane call
‘Cause I keep one foot on the ground
The other’s in the clouds
So say it loud enough so
I can hear you from the great
Beyond your control
Whatcha gonna do to get control?
I’ll fight you tooth and nail
Just back away
Hear what I have to say
‘Cause I’ve got lines makin’
Connections not in line with
What, you want some control?
How ya gonna cope without control
You fight an uphill battle
What’s so great about your blueprint?
(I see in all dimensions) (Update your blueprint, I propose)
I propose we throw it out and start all over
(Oh I propose we throw it out at start all over)
WHY - WHY NOT - A BLUEPRINT DESIGNED FOR MINDS LIKE MINE
WHY - WHY CAN’T - PEOPLE JUST LET ME LIVE HOW I
I WAS - DESIGNED - WITH A DIFFERENT BLUEPRINT IN MIND
Wanna play a game?
I’ll go hide and when I answer to my name
You’ll come find a world that wasn’t meant for you
Just like I wasn’t meant for yours
You’ve got no control
Whatcha gonna do to get control?
I’ll fight you tooth and nail
What’s so great about your blueprint?
(I see in all dimensions) (Update your blueprint, I propose)
I propose we throw it out and start all over
(Oh I propose we throw it out at start all over)
There - That’s better. Gotta love this view
You know you do.

What can I say about Big Big Train that I haven’t said before?
This album took a little while to grow on me but by the time I saw it live I was in love with its humongous, over-egged pomposity! They do it all with such passion, excitement and amazing musicianship.

The album takes off nicely with David Longdon's "The Strangest Times", but then gets into immediate free fall and deeply underwater for the next few tracks, quite unexpectedly. Fortunately, it recovers with Nick D'Virgilio's "Apollo" (hey, this guy CAN write good music, although he hides this ability most of the time) and the remaining three tracks, one of which is another Longdon masterpiece. So in the end the final impression is somewhat in the positive range. Sven B. Schreiber (sbs)
The Long Island metal band's third album etches arena-sized hooks into their jagged compositions, deftly balancing experimental and poppy inclinations. Bandcamp Album of the Day May 12, 2022
